Above Average Performance

During the last three months, at MJP, athletes (ages 9-18) increased athleticism by an average of 23% after six weeks, with our Learn to Train athletes improving on average 30% after six weeks. This is significantly above the industry average of 10-12%.

When Michael Johnson Performance opened its doors more than ten years ago, our main objective was to ensure every athlete left the facility better than when they walked in. Fast forward ten years, and we have far surpassed the increased performance results initially expected.

It is first important to understand how MJP measures results: Athleticism. Overall athleticism takes into account four major and measurable factors: speed, strength, stamina and speed. Below is a brief description of how each of these aspects is measured:

  • Speed: Acceleration, Maximum Velocity, Agility
  • Strength: Upper/Lower Body Power
  • Stamina: Aerobic and/or Anaerobic Capacity
  • Skill: Balance, Spatial Orientation, Reaction

The current advertised standard at MJP is 1-2% improved athleticism per week of training (or 6-12% improvement after 6-weeks of training). After a review of the last three months of data, we are very proud to report the following results:

Learn to Train (Ages 9-11): Overall improvement in athleticism is 5% PER WEEK. This results in more than 30% improvement after the six-week training.

High School Prep (Ages 12-14): Overall improvement in athleticism is 4% PER WEEK. This results in more than 24% improvement after the six-week training.

College Prep (Ages 15-18): Overall improvement in athleticism is 3% PER WEEK. This results in more than 15% improvement after the six-training.

These are all great numbers, but what does this mean for you as an athlete, or as the parent of an athlete? Studies show that a youth athlete that does not train outside of their sport improve by 1-3% per year. Everyone improves naturally year-over-year, but those that train with MJP show much more improvement, much quicker.

Everyone is getting better. What will you do to separate yourself from the pack?
